Ignoring "To-Do's"

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow, but children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep. I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.” ~Ruth Hulbert Hamilton

One thing that I keep reminding myself of is that I am raising a child, not managing an inconvenience. This is easy to forget when I have a million things on my to-do list, and nursing and reading books to Asher ALL DAY takes precedence. So many times I have just had to let the diaper wash pile up and the bathroom stay messy. So many times I have just had to let visitors come over when the house is not as tidy as I would like.

BUT the care I give Asher is shaping him into the man he will become. The decisions I make, hugs and kisses I give, books we read, walks we take, and all the other little every-day moments we have together are growing him up smart and secure. What an honor to mother this sweet gift as he matures!!

So, even though things are a little more sloppy around here, the LOVE we three share is OVERFLOWING!!!

OR, I could employ Scott's way of getting things done.....

So true, Kate! Each stage seems to require a new adjustment. When Katie was born I read TONS of books and never did laundry. Now I never have time to read but I have a precious housekeeping helper!

Parenting requires flexibility, which is totally foreign to my nature, but it's the only way!

I love this pic. It reminds me of Tim in the 'early days'. Dad's are so creative and courageous. Such a balance for us as mothers.

I always enjoy your posts.
